SB Electronics (USA) Divests Radial Capacitors, Including Orange Drop®, to Cornell Dubilier (USA)

October 2012 – SBE, Inc. (dba SB Electronics) of Barre, VT (USA) has divested their radial product lines (including Orange Drop® film capacitors) to Cornell Dubilier Electronics, Inc. (USA).

Orange Drop® Capacitors were first named in the 1960’s by Sprague Capacitor Company due to the bright orange epoxy conformal coating. Orange Drop® capacitors (film dielectric and metallized or foil electrodes) have been used in pulse DC and AC circuits with the product line ranging from filter caps (switch mode power supplies) to snubbers (protecting IGBT’s in high power inverters).

Cornell Dubilier’s acquisition adds to their board level power capacitor lineup. The acquired capacitor product lines will continue to be manufactured out of the Barre, VT facility. Long term, manufacturing will be transferred to other Cornell Dubilier locations. Since 1909, Cornell Dubilier has been focused on applications requiring reliability.
